Angelo Mathews Out By Time out Rule Due to Broken Helmet Strap
sadeera samarawickrama was out caught in deep mid-wicket of the bowl of Sakib Al Hasan. Then it’s turn of Angelo Mathews to come to crease. He comes out and Taken his guard with the help of umpire. He is almost ready to face his first ball. But he tried to tie up his strap but strap was broken so helmet could be fitted. So he signal towards the change room for new helmet. Twelfth men comes up with new helmet and he delievered the helmet to Angelo mathews. Sakib soft appealed towards umpire marais erasmus that he is out and umpire also thinks same as Sakib that batter hasn’t come to the crease to face the ball on time and has given it out. It is called as Timed out.
Angelo mathews walks sadly and throws broken strap helmet towards boundary. He also discussed about the same with their colleagues like coach, skipper and supporting staff. He was explaining to all the members of their side that what was happened in the middle. He is really annoyed by himself and went to the dressing room. Also some of the members of Srilankan support staff is checking infront of laptop about rules etc.
What Does ICC Rule Says
This is the first time this type of the thing happend in ICC official cricket match where batter is out due to time out. As per Icc rule you have to come out to bat within 2 minutes and take your guard and be ready to play within 2 minutes. This was the case where Angelo Mathews was not able to do so as he has taken guard already but when he touch the strap and tried to tied it up but can’t do it as it was broken.

Many views are coming to social media as some say’s that Sakib should keep in mind and play cricket in spirit of cricket where some are saying that Angelo Mathews should obey the rule as well as he should understood and respect the rules. As there is also rule of slow overrate as if he couldn’t be ready to face ball within three minutes than Bangladesh is victim of slow overrate and should have to pay penalty of it by keeping one more fielder inside the circle.
As Ian Bishop on air told that umpire asks Sakib to withdraw appeal twice but he denied that he don’t want to withdraw the appeal then umpires have to stay with their decision of out. Also Aslanka after hitting his second century during interview told that this is against the spirit of cricket as he also added that we should also follow the rules too. When viewing Srilankan dressing room all are very disturbed and unhappy with what happened on the field.
